Austrian neurologist dies in SH1 crash near Kinleith

An internationally recognised neurologist died after a late-night crash on State Highway 1 near Kinleith, with police continuing inquiries into the circumstances.

Police said Dr Regina Katzenschlager, 61, of Austria, died after a crash involving a car and a truck on State Highway 1 near Kinleith on April 21.
At the time of the late-night crash, one person died and another was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Katzenschlager was widely recognised for her work in neurology and movement disorders, and had led the Austrian Parkinson Society and earlier the Austrian Society for Neurology.
An obituary said she had made a major contribution to Parkinson’s care and research, and that her death had left an irreplaceable void for colleagues, friends and family.
